I am writing this blog to help myself learn more about the Magento framework and build custom Magento modules. At the same time I hope that it will benefit others who have the same goal. I cannot guarantee that these examples represent best practices or will even work in all installations. However I have tested each one in Magento 1.7 with the default theme.
